Gareth Davis & Elliott Sharp

Gareth and Elliott a4

Elliott Sharp, American multi-instrumentalist (most notably guitar), composer, and performer has been a central figure in the avant-garde and experimental music scene in New York City for over 30 years. His releases, now more than 90 recordings, vary from orchestral music to blues, jazz, noise, no wave rock, and techno music. He leads the projects Carbon and Orchestra Carbon, Tectonics, and Terraplane and has pioneered ways of applying fractal geometry, chaos theory, and genetic metaphors to musical composition and interaction. Collaborators have ranged from Radio-Sinfonia Frankfurt, Ensemble Modern, Kronos String Quartet and Ensemble Resonant to cellist Frances-Marie Uitti, Jack deJohnette and Christian Marclay. Following a meeting at the Witten Festival, Elliott and Gareth have worked together regularly both in various formations as performers and also with Elliott in the role of composer, Gareth having performed a number of new works from large scale solo works to concerti with various ensembles. Their shared espresso addiction has resulted in constantly interesting routings from stations to venues and studios. So far though, no missed trains. Touch wood.
